MyNic.my introduces new TLD .biz.my

The Ministry of Communications and Multimedia Malaysia announced the start of a new initiative by MyNic called PRIME ( Program Realisasi Impian Ekonomi Digital) which translates to digital economic dream realization program. 

The program is designed to drive online adoption and support small to mid sized businesses in Malaysia. It comes as no surprise that the initiative was launched in the wake of the covid-19 epidemic.  

As a result of the new initiative MyNic will introduce a new TLD in .biz.my and will make the first 20,000 registration free to qualified businesses. The top TLD’s in Malaysia are the .my and .com.my extensions, it will be interesting to see if the .biz.my extension makes any headway. It also begs the question, is the .biz extension popular in Malaysia and if not, will .biz.my help the .biz gain any traction with in Malaysia.
